Khajjaka, plain or sweet mentioned in Manasollasa, was a wheat flour preparation fried in ghee. Khaja is believed to have originated from the eastern parts of the former state of Oudh and the former United Provinces of Agra and Oudh.

Here is the best “Khaja” recipe we have found so far. This will be smell and look delicious.

Ingredients of Khaja

  1. Make ready 1 cup of all-purpose flour.
  2. It’s 2 tbsp of Ghee (clarified butter).
  3. It’s 1/4 cup of water.
  4. Take 1/2 tsp of oil.
  5. Prepare For of sugar syrup:.
  6. Prepare 1.5 cup of sugar.
  7. It’s 1/4 cup of water.
  8. Make ready 1/4 tsp of cardamom powder.

Khaja recipe is a traditional coastal recipe that is served as a part of "Sukhila Prasad" in India's Puri Jagannath temple.This is a sweet dish recipe, prepared from fewer ingredients, is essentially the layered fritters dunked in sugar syrup.Chiroti, also known as khaja, this is a crispy sugar coated puri a delicious snack.Chiroti is a traditional Maharashtrian delicacy.

Khaja step by step

  1. Take 1 cup of all-purpose flour in a bowl. Add 2 tbsp ghee then mix and crumble. Now add 1/4 th cup of water and mix well and knead it's for 5 minutes (add the water according to requirement). Make them smooth and soft dough. Grease with the oil and rest it for 15 minutes..
  2. Sugar syrup - Take 1.5 cup sugar in a wok, add 1/4cup water and stir well. Keep stirring until the sugar gets dissolved. Boil on medium flame until the 1 string consistency. Add 1/4 tsp cardamom powder, 1tsp lemon juice. Now sugar syrup is ready..
  3. Now knead the dough again. Now are the big round ball, dust it and roll it thin. Remove the sides, dust again and roll tightly again dust and roll. Roll it till the end to help to get layers. Stick the end with the butter. Now cut it into 1 inch and press gently. Now you get the perfect layers..
  4. Deep fry all the khaja in medium hot oil. Fry on low flame. They float after 3 minutes. Now fry on low to medium flame till the golden and crisp and drain out all the khaja from the oil..
  5. Now put all the khaja into the warm sugar syrup and mix gently. Soak for 5 minutes, Absorbed well. Now khaja is ready to eat..
