  2. Prepare 1 cup of water.
  3. It’s 1/2 cup of raw sugar.
  4. You need 1 of apple, sliced and seeded.

Also known as glühwein, vino caliente, glögg, vin brulé, bisschopswijn, vin chaud, candola, vinho quente…or literally a hundred other names, depending on where in the world life may find you.

Glühwein instructions

  1. Add the water and sugar to the pot and boil until the sugar dissolves. Reduce the heat and add the apple, allspice, cloves, cinnamon, star anise, and orange. Cook low and slow until it turns into a syrup..
  2. Reduce the heat to where it's barely on and add the wine. Let it stand like this for at least 20 minutes, but it can go for a few hours if need be. Just make sure that it doesn't reach a full simmer. And whatever you do, do not let it boil. If you let it boil, the alcohol burns off..
  3. Strain and serve in festive Christmas mugs!.
