Ingredients of Leftover Rice Appe
- Prepare 2 cup of leftover rice.
- You need 1/2 cup of suji.
- Make ready 1/2 tsp of salt.
- You need 1/2 cup of water.
- Take 1 of onion chopped.
- It’s 1/2 of capsicum chopped.
- Take 1/2 tsp of red chilly flakes.
- You need 1/4 tsp of black pepper powder.
- Take 1 tsp of oil.
- Prepare 1/2 tsp of mustard seeds.
- Take 10 of curry leaves chopped.
- It’s 2 of green chilly chopped.
- Make ready 1/4 tsp of baking soda.
- Take 1/2 cup of Coriander leaves chopped.
Rice appe are a perfect breakfast or snack choice and considering the fact that appe is also made from leftover Idli batter, it can be an interesting replacement to usual Idlis.Appe is a shallow fried dumpling or roundels prepared with rice and urad dal or with the batter of addition of mixed lentils like chana dal, urad dal and flattened rice.We went to our favorite Italian restaurant, the app of the day was italian rice balls never heard of them so of course we had to get them, they were delish.Well I thought hmm I can do this with left over rice I had in my fridge, here is what I came up with, my family loved it, I baked rather than fried them since we try not to fry much anymore, they still were nice and crispy.
Leftover Rice Appe step by step
- In a blender add rice and water, grind it, make a smooth paste..
- Transfer this in a bowl add suji, salt mix well, add water as required to get thick flowing consistency. Keep aside for 15 minutes..
- Add onion, capsicum, chilli flakes, coriander, black pepper powder, salt to taste (as rice already have salt) and mix well..
- Heat oil in a tadka pan add mustard seeds,(seeds splutters switch off gas) green chilli, curry leaves, mix well.
- Pour this temper in suji batter, mix well add baking soda and 1 tbsp water, mix it well..
- Heat appe pan, grease it with oil, pour batter in each cavity, cover with lid, cook for 3 to 4 minutes on low flame..
- After that sprinkle very little oil on them, flip them, cover with lid and cook for another 1 to 2 minutes.
- Transfer them on a plate. Leftover rice appe are ready to serve. Serve hot with green chutney..
